A Running Pregnant Lady

You can run 188 miles without stopping to eat or sleep while you are pregnant right? Well you can if you have the help of 11 other great friends :)! This past weekend we headed up North to our old stomping ground and ran from Logan to Park City without stopping.

The race is called "Ragnar Relay" and is, obviously, a relay race where each team member runs 3 different parts of the distance. We really do run through the entire night, you have to eat while driving or while your van is on "break", and port-o-potties become a very important necessity in your life :).

Our team consisted of 5 couples in our ward and 2 brothers of team members.
I don't think I could have ever done this race if I wasn't doing it with my husband, sister and best friends. It was another "marathon-like experience" for me when I had to go out and run in the rain after only sleeping 2 hours while the beginning phase of the flu was coming on, but I managed to do it and not regret doing it :).

You hear about pregnant women running marathons when they are 8 months along, but I can tell you this is one pregnant fatty who is throwing in the running towel (at least for awhile!) I cannot wait to get back to my normal gym routine instead of the 5am training runs Matt and I have been trading off these past few months to avoid the AZ heat.

We had a blast and it is truly an adventure to run through the Utah mountains in the rain. We completed the 188 miles in about 33 hours. My team was amazing and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

It was also my first race with Matt and I am excited he has joined the racing bandwagon and will, definitely, assume the drivers seat for these next few months. I am happy I did it and I am happy it is done! Now, I get to sit back and do the elliptical while my hubby trains for a marathon--go Matt!!

P.S. We REALLY could have NEVER done the race without the love and support of our families! A BIG, HUGE hug and thank you to Gary, Shirley, the rest of Matt's fam and to my dad and Paula--WE LOVE YOU and thanks for watching the kiddos!!!

Seth's "Goldie Medal"

Seth recently completed his first soccer season! We were anxious to see if he would enjoy soccer as much as Wade does and it seems like he did! He was willing and ready to go to every practice and game and did his best to run around the field and help his team all season.
I have to admit that it was quite an adjustment to remember how 3 year old's play soccer since Wade has been playing for over 2 years straight, but it didn't take long for us to sit back, relax and be thrilled if they were running in the right direction. :)

Seth scored 2 goals at the last game and was ecstatic! Wade was also very proud of his brother. Following the game, Coach Nate handed out the participant medals and pictures to each player. Seth promptly put it around his neck announcing that this was his "goldie medal" for doing a great job at soccer.

He kept his "goldie medal" with him for days. We are proud and excited that we have another little athlete in the family and are quickly realizing that our Saturday's are going to be stacked with sports for the next 15 years or so. I guess we couldn't expect anything less with 3 boys.

Kindersteps Graduation

Wade "graduated" from kindersteps last week. The school had the kids put on a really cute program in which they sang songs and called each of the graduates by name and handed them a diploma all followed by juice boxes and cookies (in true 5 year old fashion!)

The program started with the children filing into the cafeteria/ gymnasium and up onto the stage.
I don't know if I am a basket case or if it is because I am pregnant (probably both), but I got all choked up when I saw Wade come around the corner.

There was my baby, completing his first year in a real elementary school. He looked so big!
He kept Matt and I chuckling because he is ULTRA shy when asked to dance around and be silly. He also gets nervous when he thinks everyone is looking at him. After warming up, though, he is fine and gets into it.

(we will miss his teacher so much--she was WONDERFUL!)
Just a short 8 week summer and he will be an official kindergartner attending school ALL DAY! It is all flying by so fast.
