Wade's Music Recital

Wade just completed another year of his music program. He is doing so well and we are so proud of him. At his recital, he was assigned to play "I'm an Indian" on the keyboard while the other children sang it. He practiced hard and did such a good job. He has learned so much! We love this program and are amazed at how much a young kid can learn and do.

Seth's Preschool Graduation

Seth has had the most amazing experience at preschool this year! I could not have asked for a better teacher and already have Trent on her waiting list :). Seth learned so much from Mrs. Dieu and I know we will never forget the way she started his love for learning.

We are going to miss our school days :(. Seth still has another year before Kindergarten and is already enrolled in a four day a week preschool for next year. I can't believe he will turn 5 this year--WOW!

If You Wanna Get Out of Wearing a Headband

Since the day I was born, my mom has put a headband around my head and attached either a bow or flower to it. I get that she is really excited to have finally gotten me, a girl, and can be a little over-the-top sometimes (understatement!) I must admit that I do look very fashionable in my headbands and appreciate that my mom buys me stylish apparel from my head to my toes.

Like every girl, I make some sacrifices to look good. Some girls complain about shoes that give them blisters, others take ten minutes to squeeze into their skinny jeans--my sacrifice is my headbands. They kinda hurt. They don't ALWAYS hurt, but there are many days that I have little indentations on my head left from a day of headband wearing. I decided that I needed a plan to get out of wearing my headband--at least for a few days.

The other night, my dad put me in my bouncy seat that was sitting on the bathroom counter. I knew this was my opportunity to put my plan in action. I kicked my little legs as hard as I could and the seat started bouncing and moving towards the edge of the counter. It was now or never...I kicked until my bouncy fell off the counter.

Thankfully the bouncy seat fell vertically before crashing forward. I still face planted on the tile and it hurt much worse than I had anticipated. I couldn't help but cry very loud. My dad was there in an instant to pick me up. My mom frantically ran in to the bathroom about a half second later. She held me close to her and I felt much better. I even stopped crying. I knew the goose egg that was already visible on my head would buy me, at least, a week of no-headband-wearing!

Since my dad had seen me fall, he insisted to my mom that we go to the ER. It was 9:00 on a Saturday night. My mom agreed through her tears. We loaded up and rushed to the same hospital I was born in and waited in a room with A LOT of sick people. We had to wait awhile and it was SO much FUN! I haven't been one on one with my mom and dad while I'm awake for a long time. I had lots to talk about and babbled, laughed and cooed the entire time we waited.

When we finally got to go back and see the doctor, she decided that I should have a CT scan. I don't know what that is for, but I do know I had to lay on a large table while they put a heavy blanket on me and my mom had to lay near me while holding my head straight. I did not like the CT scan. I almost started to think this wasn't worth it--almost.

Following the CT scan, we had to wait another hour for the results. I couldn't stay up any longer. I think it was 1am now--way past my bedtime. Since I was asleep, I didn't hear the results of the CT scan, but later overheard my mom telling someone that the scan showed nothing out of the ordinary. I did not have any fractures or swelling--thank goodness!

When we finally got home, my dad gave me a really nice blessing and then insisted on sleeping on the floor in my room. He was a good roommate--no snoring or loud breathing and I didn't have to cry for more than a second or two when my bink fell out of my mouth.

On Sunday morning I woke up feeling refreshed. My goose egg had reduced by more than half, but it was still there which meant my plan had worked--my mom really must have felt like my head was too tender to put a headband on. For the first time in my life (literally), I went an entire day without a headband! It was heavenly :).

On Monday morning, you would have never known anything had happened to me at all. The only evidence of my fall was a light yellowish bruise on my forehead. My mom and dad keep telling everyone how relieved they are that I am okay. I know, for sure, that my mom knows I'm okay because when she was dressing me that morning (and every morning since,) she included a headband. At least I got a break for one day--you can't blame a girl for trying.

Rylee is 4 months

This baby girl is growing up WAY to fast :(. I can't imagine or remember a life without her and still want to pinch myself to awake from the dream of, really, having a little girl. She is so much fun and while she is growing, it is amazing to see her personality develop. Such a sweet little thing, she adores her brothers and her cousin Jax so much.
Rylee also loves "her baby" which is this funny looking bear hooked to a blanket. SHE LOVES IT! The second you give her this little blanket, she will nuzzle it close to her face and fall into a deep slumber.
She also loves baths, being held while her "holder" is standing, playing patty cake and babbling.

She has also rolled over, started to show interest in toys and sucks on her fingers. I could even venture to say that she likes me to dress her up--I swear she likes it :). She never cries and lets me dress her up, head-to-toe, everyday--bless this little baby!

She does not like cold milk, being too hot and sweaty and waiting for you to make a bottle.

Still topping the charts at her well check, we love the chub!

weight: 14.6 lbs (73%)
length: 24.75 in (69%)
head: 16.25 in (59%)

Easter

I, personally, LOVED having Easter and General Conference the same weekend this year! What a special treat to be able to listen to the leaders of our Church while celebrating the Resurrection of Christ! Conference, as always, was amazing. The "commercial" side of Easter was fun too.

We went to our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt the Saturday before Easter. The kids had a blast finding eggs, decorating cookies, eating candy and playing with their friends.

Here we are the week before Easter, dressed up, since we didn't have church on Easter Sunday:

On Easter Sunday, we had the Bryner's over and ate breakfast while watching the morning session of Conference. Following conference, the "Easter Bunny" hid eggs in the backyard so all the kids could find them. It was a great day!

Spring Staycation

I usually greet the, over 2 week long, spring break with gritted teeth and lots of prayers that I can get through it. I am such a creature of routine. I like to be on a schedule. For whatever reason, though, I was really excited about this year's break and LOVED our staycation from the routine.

All sports, music and school are put on hold and we usually head out of town, but Matt and I felt like Rylee (and Trent) are a bit too little to face a real vacation so we decided to stay home.

We filled most of our days with late mornings, daily trips to the gym, Wii and playdates. Among those "normal"activities we got a visit from Ampa which always means a trip to "Peter Piper", and a visit to the Children's museum and a Train Park.

Maybe 4 kids has taught me to loosen up a bit because "no schedule" was a lot of fun--at least for a little while (I can't get too crazy, now :).)
